At SmartLAB you can study in person in Novi Sad and Belgrade, or online from anywhere in the world. All tracks follow a single program for Russian speakers, and classes are held in mini-groups of up to six people.

You can switch between tracks: for example, start online and, after moving, continue in Novi Sad or Belgrade. A coordinator will help you find a group that matches your level and schedule.

The main rhythm is two 60-minute classes per week in a group of up to six people. In class you go through new topics, learn to understand Serbian speech, and use what you've learned in conversation.

In addition to the main classes, the subscription includes conversation clubs at your level and access to an additional online course, "Ja govorim srpski," with video lessons, exercises with automatic checking, and a word trainer.
In the Telegram group you can ask the teacher questions between classes.

Serbian is taught by native speakers with a degree in philology and experience teaching Serbian as a foreign language. At beginner levels, complex topics can be explained in Russian, and then you're helped to use them right away in Serbian speech.

You already know one Slavic language. You're familiar with gender, cases, and word inflection, so there's no need to spend months explaining the basic principles themselves. We build on that foundation, go through Serbian endings and the differences between the languages, and move to speaking practice faster.

No. First you take a placement test, then we suggest a group at your level. It doesn't matter whether you studied at another school, with a tutor, or on your own.

After the test, you can attend a class of the suggested group for free: meet the teacher, gauge the pace, and see whether you're comfortable. You decide whether to continue after the class.

If your schedule changes later or the pace stops working for you, you can switch groups at any time.

Understanding a familiar phrase and producing it yourself at the right moment are different skills. That's why in class you regularly formulate your own thoughts, ask questions, answer, and try new structures. In a small group, the teacher has time to notice when you're struggling and help you with the wording.

Conversation clubs provide extra practice with different topics and conversation partners, while the online course and word trainer let you review exactly what you stumble on in speech. That way, knowledge gradually turns into an active speaking skill.

For beginners, we first prepare you to take part, so that you already have the words and structures for your first conversation. After the first eight classes, your first conversation club takes place. After that, you can sign up on your own for the green clubs for beginners. After six months of study, access to all clubs opens up.

Conversation clubs are included in the subscription. Students in in-person groups also have access to online clubs.

Inform the coordinator about the absence. Depending on the situation, we can connect you to the in-person class online, record the lesson, or give you materials from the additional online course to review.

The three-month subscription includes two freezes, and the six-month one includes four. A freeze must be arranged in advance through the coordinator.

If the group has moved ahead after a long break, you can move to another group at a suitable level.

Yes. All tracks follow a single program, so you can move to another group or change the format of your studies. This is convenient if you start online before moving or are relocating from one city to another.

Write to the coordinator: they will check suitable groups based on your level and schedule and help arrange the transition.

Yes, that option is available when studying in Novi Sad. At SmartLAB, the A1–B2 programs are accredited; the school issues the documents for applying for a residence permit on the basis of study and supports you through the application process.

Classes are held on the same terms as for other students, but regular attendance is mandatory. If you stop studying, the school can no longer confirm the basis, and the residence permit may be annulled.

After completing the relevant program, the student receives a potvrda (certificate) of completion. If you need the document for a specific institution, let the coordinator know in advance.
